Yellow Shoots

BIOGRAPHY

Yellow Shoots is Gregory Matthews, a Brooklyn-based producer, multi-instrumentalist, and synesthete who sees music in bursts of bright colors. Blurring the lines between soul, psychedelia, R&B, and analog funk, Yellow Shoots records straight to tape — playing and arranging every instrument himself — crafting songs that feel cinematic, dreamlike and deeply personal.

His viral 2025 single “Soft One,” a retro-soul slow-burn cut to 4-track tape, lit up short-form platforms and introduced his singular sound to a much wider world. Pulled from his unfolding EP series, Will You Bring The Rain, “Soft One” sparked millions of views and caught the attention of both indie and hip-hop communities. A rare full-band On The Radar session followed, along with social co-signs from Timbaland, Jermaine White and former members of Jamiroquai, who praised and shared his work across social channels.

The Will You Bring The Rain project started in late 2024 with EP 1, and continues across 2025 with Part 2 (released June 25) and the upcoming Part 3, culminating in a full-length album this fall. The rollout includes new singles, the official “Soft One” video, and a steady stream of immersive, cinema-drenched short-form content that matches the warmth and intention of the music.

With a sound that lives between the spiritual and the sensual — all delivered with a distinctly DIY ethos — Yellow Shoots is carving out his own lane in modern alt-soul, where every track feels like a faded photograph brought to life in real time.
