Pebe Sebert
BIOGRAPHY
Known for penning classic hits for artists including Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus, Miranda Cosgrove, and her daughter Kesha, Pebe Sebert has spent virtually all of her life making music. A graduate of the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy for musically gifted students, she spent much of her youth singing both in bands and as a solo artist in coffeehouses around the US and Europe. In 1980, Sebert scored her first #1 song when Dolly Parton recorded “Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You,” co-written with her then-husband Hugh Moffatt. She continued to rack up success after success with songs written for such stars as Kathy Mattea, Johnny Cash, June Carter, Crystal Gayle, and Merle Haggard, before working closely with Kesha on such blockbuster hits as the 5x RIAA Platinum-certified “Your Love Is My Drug” and Pitbull’s 12x Platinum, #1 smash, “Timber (Feat. Kesha).” In 2017, Sebert co-wrote six songs on Kesha’s GRAMMY® Award-nominated, Platinum-certified, #1 album, Rainbow, highlighted by a reunion with Dolly Parton for a duet version of “Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You” which she co-produced.
