  • Uncle Earl is an all-star, all g'Earl stringband, performing traditional old-tyme acoustic music embroidered with more contemporary elements. Songs range from high energy fiddle tunes and dance numbers to haunting, ancient ballads.
  • Uncle Earl are part of a new generation of young acoustic musicians redefining the stringband tradition. Their peers (and friends) include Old Crow Medicine Show, King Wilkie, Yonder Mountain Stringband, Chris Thile, The Mammals, The Stringdusters, etc.

Fun Facts
  • Uncle Earl first met John Paul Jones at a bluegrass festival, where they all wound up jamming with Chris Thile. Later he picked up She Waits for Night at a London record store and reached out to the band to produce what eventually became Waterloo, Tennessee.
  • The title is a reference to a town (Population: 0) near where the studio was made, and to Napoleon's fabled last stand. The band was engrossed in Napoleonic history for the entirety of the sessions.
  • Album features acoustic fore-mothers Gillian Welch on drums and Tara Nevins (The Heartbeats, Donna the Buffalo) on triangle. Album also marks John Paul Jones' recorded debut on wobbleboard.
  • Each member of the band is a respected solo artist in their own right.
