GOV'T MULE BEGIN NEW STUDIO ALBUM AND TOUR WITH KID ROCK; WARREN HAYNES TO PERFORM WITH THE DEAD

(New York, NY) -- The man who seems to need no sleep, Warren Haynes, has headed back into the studio. But you won't be reading lists of one-off bass guests this record. Haynes, drummer Matt Abts, keyboardist Danny Louis and bassist Andy Hess will assemble the first Gov't Mule studio album since the addition of Louis and Hess as permanent members of the band.

It will also be the first release since the extensive guest-gathering Deep End series and the first proper band-based recorded effort since founding bassist Allen Woody passed away August 26, 2000. The new recording is scheduled for an autumn release on ATO Records.

Meanwhile, Haynes' 2004 schedule is already shaping up to be action-packed, as always.

Between recording sessions, Gov't Mule will open eight dates for Kid Rock and will perform on off nights headlining several shows during a three-week tour set to begin at the end of January in support of its current release "The Deepest End".

The Dead will welcome Haynes on vocals and guitar for a series of dates, including the band's 2nd Annual Winter Jam February 9 at San Francisco's Warfield. Summer tour specifics will be announced in coming weeks.

Haynes will return to the Allman Brothers Band a month later for the group's traditional run at New York's Beacon Theatre.
